Pakistans Textile and Apparel Exports Grew

Pakistan's textile and apparel exports grew more than 4% year-over-year in the first four months of 2019-20, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday. As export revenues grew modestly and oil and food imports declined, the government was able to achieve its current account surplus in October after five years.

Textile and apparel exports

Textile and apparel exports amounted to $ 46 billion, up 4.1pc in July-Oct compared to $ 4.4 billion last month. Meanwhile, export revenue in the October export segment increased 7.44pc to $ 11.21.1 billion in the same month last year. Gross import bill fell from $ 18.96bn to $ 15.32bn in July-October, down 19.21pc year-on-year.

According to the product-specific details, the export of yarns other than cotton increased 21.24pc, 9.44pc for fine art, silk and synthetic fibers, 0.78pc for fly. In the value-added sector, knitwear exports increased 9.49pc and 6.5pc, respectively, after which 5.72pc and 19.35 wore pajamas, respectively.

Overseas sales of ready-made garments increased 12pc and quantity increased 31.98pc, while towels rose slightly to 0.8pc. On the other hand, the main commodities with reduced exports were cotton yarn, 2.44pc, cotton cloth 4.83pc and other textile materials 7.7pc.

Machine import

Machine imports increased 14.21pc, telecommunications 19.42pc, and electrical machinery 9.61pc, resulting in an increase in power production, from 3.32 billion to 3.17pc to $ 3.1 billion last year. In telecommunications, mobile handsets skyrocketed from 48.88pc to $ 387.7m, while other devices plummeted from 21.36pc to $ 147.94m.

The increase in the former is the result of crackdowns on smuggling and free import of baggage systems. The initial revival of the Sino-Pakistan economic corridor project and the announcement of spending on public sector development programs contributed to the increase in the machine import bill.

In contrast, agricultural, textile and construction machinery imports declined. The oil group import bill fell 19.49pc to $ 4.14 billion between July and October. The quantity was recorded at 2.65m tons, down 14.57pc. During this period, prices of petroleum products plummeted 23.04pc and imports fell 11.73pc. Reduced to a total of 3.9 million tons.

Liquefied natural gas imports declined 0.19pc, while liquefied petroleum gas imports surged 23.83pc during the review period. The entire transportation group witnessed a decrease of 37.76pc as the July-October car imports (CBU) fell by 46.94pc.

Food group imports declined by 20.34pc from July to October, mainly due to regulatory obligations on imports.

Nawaz Sharif

The PML-N rank is unhappy with the 'quiet' departure of London's finest Nawaz Sharif. Some are skeptical about the concept of 'collective leadership' announced by Nawaz to run a party at his brother Shahbaz, if some are not getting the chance to meet the former prime minister or at least not meet him. Sharif's absence in the country.

PM PM-N of Prime Minister Shavaz Sharif seems to be preparing for his brother's treatment in England and the United States with Mr. Nawaz. It's very disappointing that we didn't get a chance to meet Ms. Sahib (Nawaz Sharif) before the party left London. There is a complaint between us that we cannot deliver complaints, prayers, and love directly.

The PML-N MNA of Faisalabad branch gave a sigh of relief to Pakistan's Tehreek-i-Insaf, saying that many of the party complained about the 'decision' sitting in the seat of Maulana Fazlur Rehman. He insisted that the government couldn't survive if the N League had fully put weight on the JUI-F by sincerely supporting Azadi March and Islamabad sit-ins.

Sometimes we adopt the story of 'vote ko izzat do' (respect voting), and it's amazing that mysterious silence obscures leadership when it comes time to gain that respect. Another party leader expresses his surprise in the 'unofficial' announcement of the committee, which is expected to lead the party when there is no Sharif brother.

Chabaz Sharif

If not Mian Sahib himself, at least Chabaz Sharif would have announced “collective leadership,” if the situation calls for it, he said. He pointed out that the committee lacks representatives from Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

It consists of Khwaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Marriyum Aurangzeb and Raja Zafarul Haq party chairs. If the representatives of GB and AJK, scheduled for next year's general election, fall out, they are concerned that the campaign of the party candidate will be damaged.

Ahmad Jamal Sukhera

On Tuesday, Punjab spokesman Ahmad Jamal Sukhera called on the Lahore High Court-wide bench to postpone the plea procedure for the formation of a new joint investigation team (JIT) for the 2014 Model Town case. Legal point related to the case. Sukhera said in a claim about the sustainability of the petition, the high court must wait for the Supreme Court's decision.

However, Judge Muhammad Qasim Khan ruled in this court. Judge Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Judge Alia Neelum were other members of the bench. The bench regretted that the petition has been pending in the high court for a long time and the trial has been postponed several times at the request of the government.

The bench observed that the High Court was accused of delaying the media's decision in connection with the Democratic Party, Idara Minhajul Quran. Justice Khan said, “Today we received our petition four months later.

Sukera said

There is a possibility that the verdict court will resume the hearing in the coming months. In response to a question as to whether the SC ordered the formation of a new JIT, the Attorney General said that the verdict court had dismissed the petition filed by the petitioner's prayer for the Constitution of the second JIT. . By local government.

The bench showed that the vertex court did not touch the merits of the petition and did the same disposition as fruiting in the light of the government's work. Bench asks the Attorney General of the State, “Can an incident not be decided by the Supreme Court be bound by the High Court?

Bench asked Sukera to present a single ruling in the LHC's judicial history, which may help interpret the results of the petition treated as “fruitful”. The AGP just said that the matter at hand is sensitive and the higher court should let the vertex court decide. But he admitted that the SC had not yet decided on legal matters relating to the case.

Judge Kasim Khan

Kasim Khan wondered and asked what restrictions were imposed on the high court by the Attorney General to determine sensitive issues. We will not stop hearing anymore. We must give up justice, ”the judge added. Earlier, attorney Azhar Siddique of Idara Minhajul Quran requested a hearing on the bench until the decision of the SC.

But Bench declined the request and often issued a statement to the lawyer in the media and accused the high court of delaying the lawsuit. The bench was closed until Wednesday (today) and asked advocate Siddique to raise his claim.

The new JIT was organized for a new investigation into the Model Town Massacre, following a notice released by the Secretary-General on January 3, 2019. However, the bench, which made a majority decision on February 1, discontinued notification on March 22.

Judge Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Judge Aalia Neelum were other members of the bench. Faced with trial in the Model Town case, Khurram Rafiq and other police officers challenged the legitimacy of the new JIT.

They argued that the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997 did not allow new investigations, especially after filing and accusing Callan.
